PATTI SUZETTE: "THE MENAGERIE"

AUGUST 27- SEPTEMBER 30, 2025

Patti Suzette’s "The Menagerie" delves into the profound symbolism of animals as spirit guides navigating the ever-evolving landscape of modern urban habitats. Through a series of mixed-media works—primarily acrylics, oil, and spray paint—Suzette examines the tension between primal instincts and the constructed environments of contemporary life. Her pieces reflect on how animals, as totems of resilience and intuition, adapt to the urban jungle as the world’s natural landscapes transform.

Notable works include "Gentle Giant", a striking canvas in a monochromatic blacks and grays depict the proud visage of an African elephant, its eyes windows to it's naturally gentle nature. Another standout, "Flaminglo" uses black light paints and splatters—to portray a pop-art style background surrounding a proud flamingo. Suzette’s bold palette and tactile materials create a visceral sense of movement, capturing the spirit animals’ resilience amid urban "habitats".

The exhibition’s strength lies in its cohesive narrative, which balances reverence for animal symbolism with a critical lens on environmental change.

We celebrate this evening with a musical performance by J.R. Egan and Geoffrey Baris.

Come join us for the opening reception Saturday, August 30th from 7 - 10pm at The Study!
